The glowing light by Ninjacatmuffin The glowing light by Ninjacatmuffin
:iconhavest-town:!!

Yukina watched the firefly flowers float into the ocean, amazed by their luminescent glow; she herself put a flower into the ocean in remembrance of her grandfather. She may not have met him in person, but the descriptions from her loathed mother and relatives served her well. He was everything her mother wasn't: hard-working, honest, and determined. She liked that.

Although she didn't say the words out loud, they were crystal clear in her head: I wish I could meet you. It was a wish she's had for quite a while, but it would never be realized. She could only imagine his soul was the moonstone floating in the sea...
.

Noticing that I haven't drawn something for our Firefly Festival yet, I drew a little picture to change that fact. It was fun to color a background (since I haven't done so in a while), but I did make a few mistakes here and there *cough*the flowers are too big*cough*. This was a nice change of pace in the fact that I drew something at night. This never happens!

Also, that's Yukina's work clothes you're seeing there; it's not too detailed of an outfit. It's just a white shirt, black pants, and a dusty red apron. Easy.

My, thanks! I'm glad the lighting came out right.

Also, I like her work clothes too. :eyes: They're simple, but practical.

I love dark pictures as well! You colored the picture pretty well to capture a night-like scene. Very pretty in a way!

My, thank you so much Jammie! I'm glad the coloring is appropriate for the nightime setting. I usually color pictures that take place in the day, so this was a challenge! It was fun though. .v.

you're welcome! Nighttime pictures are the hardest with traditional! So I adore that you can pull it off xD It's really easy to do it with a computer, which I do all the time, I abuse my pictures with effects xD

I know, right? :'D It's difficult to know what colors to use for when you want to make the picture dark. If you go for...like...black over the colors, then it looks weird. Otherwise, there's the difficulty of not making it dark as it should be. For me, I just abused the grey markers like no tomorrow. :'D I'm surprised my grey marker set isn't pissed at me right now.

I know what you mean. :'D I do the same thing with my digital art.

Haha yeah, if you're looking for more dark intensity in the picture, a bit of black won't hurt. I can't imagine myself to color a traditional piece with markers, that's a bit of a challenge for me xD But just maybe with coloring pencils.
I use grey and black to shade and make things darker, some navy blue and purple help too. And since I used the black and grey a lot... they're pretty short xD

Effects are so fun to play with thats why! hehe

Oh god, same here. :'D My black, white, and grey colored pencils are little nubs since I rely on them a lot. ;v; I might have to get some new ones soon...

Ooh, using purple and navy blue is a good idea. *v* Plus it'll make it a bit less bland too.

True, true.
